At lunch during a trip to Disney World, the Magic Beacon caught my eye for its use of Empress 1908 Gin. The super-sweet cocktail is a treat. Was this a good idea before going back into the Florida heat? Who's to say?
Where I found it
This cocktail is served at Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano at Hollywood Studios.
Ingredients
Empress 1908 Gin (other gins are suitable)
Blue Curacao
Lemonade
Hibiscus Syrup or Grenadine
Optional: Light-up ice cubes
How to Make
The Magic Beacon starts with 1oz of gin, Empress 1908 preferred if you have it. 1oz of Blue Curacao follows, along with 1oz of Orgeat and 2oz of lemonade. Hibiscus syrup follows with 1oz, but you can swap that out with 1oz of grenadine if you like – it won't be the same, but it's close. Pour all of that into a cocktail shaker over ice, then pour into a large glass over more ice. To make it live up to the name, add a light-up ice cube to the glass.
