The Mezcal Tonic is a fun twist on a classic gin and tonic, creating a smokey but refreshing drink that went great with a late-night stop for Mexican food at La Pachcua in Barcelona.
Ingredients
Mezcal
Gin
Lemon juice
Tonic Water
Orange Peel
Juniper Berries (for garnish)
How to Make
Pour equal parts gin and mezcal to a shaker – I do 1.5oz, but adjust based on the size of the drink. La Pachua served these in huge glasses. Then add 0.75oz hibiscus syrup and a splash of lemon juice to shaker and shake with ice.
Add ice to wine glass and orange peel. Optionally add a splash of juice from the orange. Pour spirits into glass and top with tonic water. Garnish with juniper berries and stir before serving.
