Honestly, I'm not much of a bourbon man myself, but even I can understand why this complex cocktail is a delight. "One Night In Hong Kong" elevates a bourbon drink by mixing with vermouth, spices, and some unique bitters.
Where I found it
I found "One Night in Hong Kong" at 8 East in Circa Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas. Thanks to Andrew, Seth, and Chance for the opportunity to try it!
Ingredients
Bourbon of your choice, almost anything will work (I use Bulleit)
Dry vermouth
Cinnamon stick
Star anise
Orange peel
How to Make
To make One Night in Hong Kong, you'll need a stirring glass. Add ice, ideally in a cube or sphere made in a mold. Add 2oz bourbon, 1oz dry vermouth, and then your star anise and cinnamon – optionally you can toast the cinnamon stick, but don't overdo it. Add 3 dashes each of chocolate bitters and Chinese bitters, and then add one orange peel, expressed for its oils and aroma. Stir with a barspoon for up to 30 seconds, and then strain into a rocks glass over ice, again ideally a sphere or cube from a mold.
